Trackd - Live GB Rail Status

Last Updated: February 7, 2026

Important: This policy explains how Trackd collects, uses, and protects your information. By using Trackd, you agree to the practices described here.

Ads & Tracking at a glance: Trackd uses Google AdMob. Where platform permissions and/or user consent allow, we show personalised (interest-based) ads and may engage in cross-app/website tracking for advertising and measurement. If permission/consent is not granted, we show non-personalised ads.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Trackd does not require account creation or personal login. However, we may collect:

  • Search History: Train stations and operators you search for (stored locally on your device)
  • Preferences: Your preferred train operators and app settings (stored locally on your device)

1.2 Information Automatically Collected

When you use Trackd, we automatically collect:

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, basic device identifiers
  • Usage Data: Features used, pages viewed, time spent in the app
  • Location Data: Approximate location inferred from IP address (we do not collect precise GPS location)
  • Crash Reports: Technical data about app crashes and errors

1.3 Advertising Data (Personalised when permitted)

Trackd uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. For ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and—when platform permission and/or user consent allow—personalisation, AdMob may receive:

  • Advertising/Device Identifiers: IDFA (iOS), AAID (Android), app-set ID or similar
  • Ad Interaction & Event Data: Ad views/clicks, impression timestamps, frequency capping
  • Device/Network Information: Device model, OS version, screen size, IP address (may infer approximate location)

If permission/consent is not granted, we request non-personalised ads.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use information to:

  • Provide Rail Services: Deliver real-time train information and status updates
  • Improve User Experience: Understand how users interact with the app and make improvements
  • Display Advertisements: Show personalised ads when allowed, or non-personalised ads otherwise
  • Maintain App Stability: Monitor crashes and fix technical issues
  • Measurement & Fraud Prevention: Reporting, frequency capping, abuse prevention

3. Third-Party Services

3.1 Google AdMob

We use Google AdMob to show ads. When platform permissions and/or user consent allow, AdMob may use identifiers and usage information to provide personalised ads and measure performance. If permission/consent is denied, we request non-personalised ads.

  • AdMob Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
  • Google Ads Settings: https://adssettings.google.com/

3.2 National Rail Data

Trackd retrieves real-time rail information from National Rail's public APIs. When you search for train information, your queries are sent to National Rail's systems.

3.3 Map Services

The app uses OpenStreetMap for displaying station locations. Map tile requests may be logged by OpenStreetMap servers.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage

Most data (search history, preferences) is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

4.2 Security Measures

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

  • HTTPS encryption for all network communications
  • Secure data transmission to third-party services
  • Regular security updates and patches

4.3 Data Retention

  • Local Data: Stored on your device until you clear app data or uninstall
  • Analytics/Measurement Data: Retained for up to 26 months
  • Crash Reports: Retained for up to 90 days

5. Your Privacy Rights

5.1 Ads & Tracking Controls

Your choices depend on platform and region:

  • iOS: App Tracking Transparency (ATT) — Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you deny permission, we will show non-personalised ads.
  • EEA/UK: In-app consent (Google User Messaging Platform) lets you grant/withdraw consent for ad personalisation and measurement at any time.
  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Delete Advertising ID / Opt out of Ads Personalization.
  • US (CPRA): You may opt out of “sale or sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising. Contact us at support@trustedmethods.com to exercise this right; we will reflect your choice in our ad settings.

5.2 Delete Your Data

To delete locally stored data:

  • iOS: Settings → Trackd → Clear Data, or uninstall the app
  • Android: Settings → Apps → Trackd → Storage → Clear Data, or uninstall the app

5.3 Access and Correction

Since most data is stored locally, you can view and modify it in the app’s settings. For partner-held ad data, use Google Ads Settings.

5.4 GDPR Rights (EU/EEA Users)

You have the right to request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to processing. Where we rely on consent (e.g., personalised ads), you may withdraw consent at any time.

6. Children’s Privacy

Trackd is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). If we learn that a child has provided personal information, we will take steps to delete it. Where applicable (e.g., via a lack of consent/permission to advertisments), users under the relevant age receive non-personalised ads and are not tracked for advertising.

7. Cross-App/Website Tracking for Advertising

With your permission/consent (e.g., iOS ATT and EEA/UK consent), we and our advertising partners may track activity across apps and websites to deliver personalised ads and measure their performance. You can withdraw permission/consent at any time (see Your Privacy Rights above). If permission/consent is denied, we show non-personalised ads.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses).

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you by:

  • Posting the new policy in the app
  • Updating the “Last Updated” date
  • Displaying an in-app notice for significant changes

10. Contact Us

11. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the EU/EEA, we process personal data under the following bases:

  • Legitimate Interests: To provide and secure the app; perform measurement, frequency capping, and fraud prevention
  • Consent: For personalised advertising and cross-app/website tracking where required (e.g., iOS ATT; EEA/UK ad personalisation and measurement). If consent is not granted, we serve non-personalised ads.
  • Legal Obligation: To comply with applicable laws and regulations

Effective Date: This privacy policy is effective as of November 4, 2025, and applies to all users of the Trackd mobile application.
